PURPOSE:To obtain an engine with high efficiency which enables the use of various types of fuels by compressing air by a first cylinder, feeding and burning a fuel in a passage which connects said first cylinder to a second cylinder, and obtaining an output from its combustion gas by said second cylinder. CONSTITUTION:In a first cylinder 1, air is taken in from an intake pipe 5 and compressed and, then, discharged out into a pipe 7 to burn a fuel 9 in a combustion chamber 8. The resultant combustion gas is introduced from a pipe 10 into a cylinder 12, expanded to give an output to a piston 13, and exhausted from an exhaust pipe 16. Since the fuel 9 is continuously burned in the combustion chamber 8, even a low quality fuel can be securely burned, enabling the operation in an output cylinder to be optionally set, to improve the output.
