PURPOSE:To eliminate the influences of distortion to the periphery of a head window and to heighten the densities of recording and reproducing by providing a distortion avoiding means that avoids the influences of distortion of other parts in the periphery of the head window of a jacket that protects a magnetic disk. CONSTITUTION:Even when a jacket 2 is subjected to the external force and a part other than a head window 5 is deformed while using, the distortion is absorbed by slits 15 made in the periphery of the head window 5 and the influences of the periphery of the head window 5 are avoided. Accordingly, a magnetic head 9 can be brought into contact with the magnetic face of a magnetic disk 1 in a stable state while using, the thereby, recording and reproducing of high density become possible. Further, the magnetic head 9 can be brout into stable contact with the magnetic face of the magnetic disk 1 by the function of the slits 15, and accordingly, it is not necessary to increase the pressing force of a recoding medium hold 14.
