PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of noise, by providing discharge ports and cup mufflers in upper and lower bearings, forming a discharge opening through one of the cup mufflers, and making a difference between a distance from one of the discharge ports to the discharge opening and a distance from the other discharge port to the discharge opening equal to an inner diameter of a closed container. CONSTITUTION:An upper bearing 9 and a lower bearing 10 are provided with discharge ports 11 and 12 and cup mufflers 15 and 16, respectively. A space in the cup muffler 15 is communicated with a space in the cup muffler 16 through a passage 17 defined in a cylinder 5. One of the cup mufflers 15 and 16 is formed with a discharge opening 18. A difference between a distance from the discharge port 11 to the discharge opening 18 and a distance from the discharge port 12 to the discharge opening 18 is substantially equal to an inner diameter of a closed container 1. With this arrangement, pressure pulsations of refrigerant discharged from both the discharge ports 11 and 12 interfere with each other at the discharge opening 18, thereby reducing a noise.
