PURPOSE:To obtain a clutch facing which is easy to form and has an excellent characteristic by forming it into two-layer formed product in which a layer of mixed short-fibers and a layer of reinforcing material, wrapped into a disk- like shape with a friction material and glass fiber braids, are superposed together and heated for forming. CONSTITUTION:When mixed short fibers, including Aramid, for forming a friction material 111, 112, phenol resin and a powder bulking agent are mixed in a fixed percent by weight and poured into a preforming mold, only the portion forming the friction material 111, 112 out of a clutch facing 101, 102 is preformed. While, reinforcing materials 121, 122 are impregnated with phenol resin, to which a silane coupling agent is added in a fixed percent by weight, and dried before it is wrapped into a disk-like shape with glass fiber braids. The friction material and the reinforcing material are placed in a mold and pressurized, while they are heated, so that they are formed into a two-layer structure. Subsequently, the surface of the two-layer formed product is ground before holes are made therein as required.
