PURPOSE:To attain an improvement of the quality of a clad layer, etc. by supplying a molten metal from above into a cavity formed of a vertically disposed base pipe and backing metal, rotating the base pipe and raising the backing metal. CONSTITUTION:The base pipe 4 is vertically fixed via a molten metal shielding plate 3 onto a rotary disk 2 which can rotate at a low speed. The cavity 3 to be filled with a cladding metal is formed between said base pipe and the backing metal 6. While the molten metal is successively supplied from a torch 13 into the cavity 7, the rotary disk 2 is rotated at a low speed; at the same time, the backing metal 6 is raised by a lifting motor 10. The clad layer having a uniform thickness is continuously formed to an optional length on the inside surface of the base pipe 4 by the above-mentioned method. The quality of the clad layer is thus improved and the expansion of the range for applying the cladding as well as the reduction in size of an installation, etc. are attained.
