The vibratory plate has two unbalanced shafts producing directional vibrations and located next to one another in a horizontal plane. One unbalanced shaft is driven by a drive unit and a second unbalanced shaft is driven by the first via bevel gearing. The driving movement of the vibratory plate is infinitely variable by means of an adjusting device having an actuating device. The two unbalanced shafts (14, 15) of the bevel gearing (16) are arranged to lie next to one another transversely to the direction of travel.
