PURPOSE:To provide a rolling mill which can level off the local wear of intermediate rolls by divided rolls with time by constituting the rolling mill in such a manner that work rolls are supported by the divided rolls while the intermediate rolls are shifted back and forth in the axial center direction. CONSTITUTION:Pressure fluid is alternately supplied to respective cylinder heads 15 of cylindrical bearings 14 of the respective cylinders to support shaft parts 12 at both ends of the intermediate rolls 8. As a result, the rolls 8 are moved back and forth at the required strokes forward and backward in the axial center direction while said rolls are held grasped and rotated by the work rolls 3 and the divided rolls 6. The contact surface of the rolls 6 with the rolls 8 is changed at every one rotation of the rolls 8 and the rolls are brought into contact uniformly with the entire range on the surfaces of the rolls 8 if the stroke of the forward and backward movement is selected at the roll gap 8 of the rolls 6 or above. A uniform surface characteristic is, there fore, obtd. on the surface of the rolling material without the transfer of the marks arising from the local wear. |
