PURPOSE:To bend an optical fiber even a large angle without breakage by fixing an extremely thin piece of metal in the outer peripheral surface of the optical fiber by making it strike on and stick into the surface with the pressure of gas along with ceramic powder. CONSTITUTION:The pulverized body of ceramic coated with metallic fine powder 3 is fixed in the external surface 2 of the optical fiber coated with a material which serves to protect the optical fiber. The ceramic pulverized body is coated with metallic fine powder of alloy steel such as stainless steel and fixed normally almost at right angles. In this case, a spark is generated at a point 52 by a metallic wire 4 by feeding electricity and an extremely fine piece produced by the spark is rapidly cooled instantaneously by being exposed to cooling gas 5. Extremely fine ceramic powder is dropped from a supply port 6 by a small constant amount at every time and molten metallic extremely fine pieces are supplied to obtain the ceramic fine pulverized body coated with the metallic fine powder; and it is made to stick into the external surface of the optical fiber under the pressure of injection and can be fixed.
