PURPOSE:To prevent deterioration caused by the corrosion of a nonmagnetic steel stock itself and its attendant concrete cracking, by reducing the amounts of Si and S in the composition of a high-Mn steel and by adding relatively large amounts of Al. CONSTITUTION:The nonmagnetic steel stock has a composition consisting of 0.001-1.0% C, 26.0-41.0% Mn, <=0.3% Si, <=0.015% P, <=0.008% S, 7.1-20.0% Al, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities and further containing, if necessary, 0.05-3.5% of one or more elements among Cu, Cr, and Ni. In the above composition, the amount of rusting can be reduced by limiting the amounts of S and Si and, moreover, the amount of Al is regulated to the range not impeding the nonmagnetization of high-Mn steel. Steel stocks with this composition have superior salt resistance, so that they are very useful for the maintenance of the durability of concrete structures in which nonmagnetic steel material is buried and are exposed to salt damage. |
