PURPOSE:To miniaturize the titled reader by minimizing the constitution space of the 1st optical member and providing a carrier member or a drive motor under the moving space of the 1st optical member and at the outside of the moving space of the 2nd optical member. CONSTITUTION:An original 2 placed on a reader upper face 1 is lighted by a light source 4 of the 1st optical member 3 and the reflected light from the original 2 is reflected in the 1st mirror 5. Then the light is reflected in the 2nd mirror 7 and the 3rd mirror 8 of the 2nd optical member 6, focused by an image forming lens 9, photoelectric-transduced via a read member 10 for the reading. In this case, members requiring comparatively large constitution space such as a carrier pulley 11, a drive motor 11, an image forming lens 9 and a read member 10 are arranged in a space at a comparatively high location under the moving space of the member 3 and at the outside of the moving space of the member 6. Then constitution space members requiring comparatively low space are arranged at a space at a comparatively lower position under the moving space of the member 6. Thus, the space in the reader is utilized effectively and the reader is miniaturized.
