<p>PURPOSE:To remove shock to a steering shaft, by disposing a mechanism for converting a part of a rotating force of an electric motor to an axial direction and an elastic member for absorbing an axial force in a power transmitting system from the electric motor to a pinion shaft. CONSTITUTION:When a rotating force of an electric motor 12 is transmitted to a spur gear 6a mounted on a pinion shaft 6 after backlash of respective gears has eliminated, intermediate gears 11a, 11b are subjected to a thrust force in an axial direction by rotating torque and displaced to the left hand direction while it flexes an elastic member 29. Then, the pinion shaft 6 starts rotation by that the thrust force to the axial direction balances with reaction of the elastic member 29. Since shock caused when gears are abutted is absorbed by the elastic member 29, a feeling of the start of the electric motor 12 is not transmitted to a driver, whereby steering can be effected smoothly.</p> |
