PURPOSE:To improve the cooling effect of a superconducting rotary electric machine by directly cooling superconducting leads through the slot of an interrow insulator made of an insulator with a slot and the hole of an interlayer insulator composed of an insulator with a hole. CONSTITUTION:A superconducting field coil 3 used for a rotor is composed by winding superconducting leads 3a formed by twisting a plurality of superconducting strands in a plurality of rows and a plurality of layers. In this case, an interrow insulator 25 having a longitudinal slot 25a is inserted to between the rows of the leads 3a, and an interlayer insulator 26 having a plurality of holes 26a is inserted to between the layers of the leads 3a, and a plurality of insulators are arranged longitudinally of the coil 3. Thus, liquid helium flows on the outer surface of the coil 3 through the slots 25a, holes 26a to directly cool the leads 3a. As a result, even if heat is generated at the leads 3a, the heat is rapidly removed to eliminate a superconductive decay. |
