PURPOSE:To improve a response characteristic, by mounting a rotary motor, which operates when a wheel tends to come into a locked condition, to a modulator and connecting said rotary motor with a working member through a transmission mechanism which converts a rotary motion into a linear motion. CONSTITUTION:If a front wheel W tends to be locked when a brake is applied, a DC motor 49 rotates. This rotary motion is converted into the linear motion of a pressing member 54 by a working mechanism 53, and the pressing member 54 moves in a direction separating from an opening and closing valve 19. Consequently, the mechanism, which moves a working member 45 to a side of the pressing member 54 by spring tension and closes a valve hole 31, cuts off an oil path 13 to be disconnected from an output pressure oil chamber 18 while increases its volume. As a result, the wheel is avoided from being placed into a locked condition by decreasing a brake oil pressure. By this constitution, a response characteristic is improved because the working member 45 is driven by the DC motor 49.
