PURPOSE:To produce a high-silica fiber having excellent quality using an acidic liquid having relatively low concentration in a short time, by treating a glass fiber product with a treatment solution containing specific two kinds of acids, thereby dissolving and removing the components other than silica from the fiber into the solution. CONSTITUTION:Glass fiber is treated with a treatment solution containing (A) one or more kinds of acids having an electrolytic dissociation degree of >=0.1 at room temperature as 1N solution and giving a Ca salt having a solubility of <=1 and (B) one or more kinds of acids reacting with Ca salt of the acid A in an aqueous solution to form another Ca salt having a solubility of >=0.1 and higher than the solubility of the Ca salt of the acid A. The components other than the silica component in the fiber are dissolved in the liquid and removed from the fiber by this treatment. Examples of the treatment solution are combination of oxalic acid (A) and hydrochloric acid (B), oxalic acid (A) and sulfuric acid (B), etc. A high-silica fiber having high quality and a silica content of >=99% can be produced in high workability at a low cost by a treatment with an acidic liquid having relatively low concentration in a short time.
