PURPOSE:To improve the processing capacity of the whole system by providing the system with a means for requesting an initializing request to another processor when necessity for initializing a specific area in a main storage device used by one processor. CONSTITUTION:Central processing units (CPUs) 10, 11 and an I/O processor (CHP) 20 are provided with means for accessing a main storage device (MS) 3 through a control processor (MCU) 40 and the CPUs 10, 11 and the CHP 20 are provided with means for communicating each other to execute I/O processing. For instance, the CPUs 10, 11 execute an objective program by noticing that there is idle time in the I/O processing of the CHP 20, and when necessity for clearing a specific area in the MS 3 is generated, a page clear command is formed and generated and page clearing processing is substituted by the CHP 20.
