PURPOSE:To prevent a printer from being broken, by performing printing after subjecting printing pattern data to a half-dot processing instead of directly printing the printing pattern data as they are. CONSTITUTION:Printing pattern data inputted to a printing data part 1 are sent to a half-dot processing part 2 (a calculating means) with one dot column as a unit. In the part 2, calculations are conducted based on a dot column alphato be subjected to a half-dot processing and the preceding dot column beta already subjected to the half-dot processing and stored in a storage part 3. A dot column gamma for a half-dot pattern thus obtained is stored into the storage part 3 and a half-dot pattern part 4. When printing is conducted by using printing patterns processed and stored in the half-dot pattern part 3, images in the form of half-dot patterns can be printed, irrespective of the form of the printing pattern data being received. When printing pattern data A, B, C with each dot column constituted of 8 dots vertically aligned are received, pattern data obtained after the half-dot processing become A', B', C'. |
