PURPOSE:To facilitate to assemble a disk driving device by unifying a carriage shifting device to a supporting plate and constituting one unit. CONSTITUTION:A screw shaft 34 and a stepping motor 11 are fitted through bearings 68 and 69 to a supporting plate 64 beforehand and made into a unit. Consequently, the bearings 68 and 69, the screw shaft 34, the stepping motor 11, etc., can be handled as one part, assembling can be simply executed, therefore, assembling cost can be lowered, executed. By installing the flat stepping motor 11 in the direction orthogonal to the screw shaft 34, the thickness of the shifting mechanism can be reduced.
