The invention relates to a device for separating mushrooms by classifying them into a number of categories: ''short-stemmed'', ''medium-stemmed'', and ''long-stemmed''. It consists of a conveyor belt and a motion camera enabling the total length 3 and diameter 2 of each mushroom to be measured. Sorting occurs afterwards on the basis of the ratio of 3:2. The invention is chiefly intended for sorting mushrooms before they are trimmed mechanically. <IMAGE>
