The appts. for sewing slide fastener stringers along the margins of two fabric pieces, comprises feeding the stringers superposed upon the pieces to a sewing station, preceding which the slider is temporarily held so that the stringers are autonatically progressively uncoupled while being fed and stitched. Stringers are inverted and twisted before the sewing station. Pref. the slider is temporarily held by gripping its pull tab. A gripper for the slider pull tab pref. has opposed resilient tabengaging pads.
