PURPOSE:To input drawing information by individually ruling the calculation or decision of feature values for detecting/separating an object in a drawing and adding or deleting rules for extracting the object even if the kind of a symbol for detecting/separating the object is changed or the object element is changed. CONSTITUTION:A feature extracting rule 5 calculates the feature value of an image to be detected and separated from image data and a feature extraction control means 6 starts the rule for calculating the feature value required in accordance with necessity. The 3rd storage means 7 stores the information of the calculated feature value and a decision rule 8 decides whether an element concerned is the objective element or not based on the feature value. A decision rule control means 9 starts the rule required for the detection/separation of the object and the 4th storage means 10 stores the information of the decided element. A rule correcting means 11 changes the feature extracting rule or the decision rule.
