PURPOSE:To measure the amplitudes and relative phases of the quantities of electric mutual coupling between respective antenna elements by fixing the phase of only an optional reference antenna element and shifting the remaining antenna elements in phase one by one. CONSTITUTION:Switches 3a and 3b are placed on the sides of a variable phase shifter 7m and a power distributor 8 respectively to connect a transmitter 2 to the reference antenna element 1m through the phase shifter 7m and a receiver 4 to the remaining antenna elements 1(1a-1N) through the power distributor 8 and variable phase shifters 7a-7N. In this state, the phase shifter 7n connected to the antenna 1n is shifted in phase and variation in composite reception level is measured and calculated by the receiver 4 and a computer 10. then, the same measurement and calculation are repeated for all antenna elements 1 to measure the quantities of electrical mutual coupling and relative phases between all the antenna elements 1. Further, the switches 3a and 3b are placed on the sides of a transmission line 6b and the amplitude of the signal from the transmitter 2 is compared with the amplitude of a composite electric field vector in an initial state by the receiver 4 and computer 10 to measure the amplitudes of the quantities of mutual coupling between all the antenna elements 1.
