Support glass

The invention specifies a support glass for observation of areas of the eye remote from the axis during vitrectomy or similar procedures and for the examination and laser treatment of the eye fundus. Due to its prism-like inclination of the two principal planes and the utilisation of corundum monocrystal, the glass permits a considerably increased bending of the ray path and hence a considerably extended field of vision for the surgeon. In addition, this support glass is scratch-resistant and chemically inert, so that it can be cleaned any number of times. The temperature resistance of the corundum permits use of any sterilisation method as often as desired.
