958,467. Moulding tubes. S. PAVICEVIC. Nov. 6, 1962 [Nov. 14, 1961], No. 41889/62. Heading B5A. In a mould, for making reinforced plastic tubes, comprising a shell 1, core 2 and endsealing means 7, 8 12, 13, the core 2 comprises a single, longitudinally split, resilient, expansible tube whose edges 3, 4 (Fig. 3) overlap to present a continuous cylindrical surface, and a seal 6 is inserted between the overlapping portions. In use, resin impregnated fabric is wound on to core 2 and the mould assembled (Fig. 1). The mould cavity is evacuated through a port 11 and the core 2 expanded by pressurizing through a port 10. Heat treatment may be applied by using hot circulated fluid to expand the core, and a divided shell (Fig. 5, not shown), may have cavities for passing super-heated steam. Shells and cores may be modified to produce tubes with widened or narrowed ends (Figs. 6, 7, not shown).
