PURPOSE:To obtain an antibiotic substance emimycin known to have antimicrobial and antiprotozoal action by an excellent novel method, by cultivating a specific microorganism belonging to the genus Bacillus. CONSTITUTION:A microorganism, e.g. Bacillus megaterium NK84-0218 (FERM-P No.919), belonging to the genus Bacillus and having the ability to produce an antibiotic substance emimycin is cultivated in a culture medium, preferably by a liquid culture method, particularly preferably submerged spinner culture method. The cultivation is preferably carried out at 20-45 deg.C under neutral - slight acidic condition. The microorganism is collected from soil in the site of the General Research Laboratories of the applicant.
