In this arrangement, a number of binary input signals are synchronised and are subjected to nB/mB coding before the multiplexing. To be able to dispense with a frame structure in the multiplexing and, nevertheless, have the possibility of demultiplexing at the receiver end, the procedure is such that a separate nB/mB coder is provided for each of the synchronised input signals, that one of the nB/mB coders contains a device by means of which, induced by a control signal, code errors are inserted into the coded input signal in such a manner that the information content of the input signal is not corrupted during this process and that the multiplexing is carried out by a parallel/serial converter.
