A brake is provided for a drawing device in order to arrest a first part on a second part, the brake having a pivot lever with a toothing and a screw-mounted brake shoe with a counter-toothing meshing with the toothing, the brake shoe, in order to pivot the pivot lever out of the position of rest into the braking position, running against the first part and presssing this against the second part. In order to achieve a desired force/travel characteristic of the pivot lever, the toothing of the pivot lever is provided, in a first engagement section, with a relatively large radius to the pivot axis and the counter-toothing with a correspondingly small radius to its axis of rotation. In a second engagement section, however, the toothing has a relatively small radius and the counter-toothing a correspondingly large radius.
