A honing tool for working cylindrical workpiece bores contains a tool body having longitudinal grooves in its outside. The bottom of the longitudinal grooves is inclined slightly with respect to the longitudinal direction of the tool. The honing strips bear with the full face of their rear side on the bottom of the grooves. A relative displacement between the grooves and honing strips in the longitudinal direction of the tool leads to a very finely controllable opening or adjustment of the honing strips outwards.
