Prepn. of a sustained release bolus formulation comprises (a) injecting a softened dry blend or pelletised dry blend of 1-20wt.% active ingredient (I), 1-40wt.% wax or mixt. of waxes, 0-23wt.% fat and 20-85wt.% high density filler into a mould; (b) cooling the mould to solidify the bolus; and (c) removing the bolus from the mould. (I) is pref. diflubenzuron, avoparcin, sulphamethazine, tetracycline, tylosin or a polyether ionophore, or levamisol, tetramisol, ivermectin or a phenothiazine. The wax may be a paraffin or microcrystalline animal, mineral or vegetable wax. |
