According to the invention, the cross-section of the sealing ring D is configured to be considerably more resistant to extrusion by shaping a transitional surface Ü arranged between its end contact face and its conical or cylindrical circumferential surface that, when the pressure to be sealed off acts on the sealing ring it is under compressive stress in all directions and, as a result, has the supporting effect of an arch. For this purpose, the transitional surface is designed as a preferably concave annular surface recessed into the sealing ring. <IMAGE>
