PURPOSE:To improve the position accuracy of an end face, and also, to efficiently suppress heating by scattered light, etc., by holding coaxially an optical fiber of a connecting part, by a magnetic fluid which has been injected into a magnetic field constituted of plural pairs of magnets. CONSTITUTION:The vicinity of an emitting end of one optical fiber 2 is held to connector parts 9a by a member 8, and the vicinity of an incident end of the other optical fiber 7 is held to connector parts 9b by a member 11. Chuck parts 14a-14d of a ferromagnetic material are provided on each magnetic pole of magnets 13a, 13b which have been fixed to the parts 9a, 9b, and a magnetic fluid 18 is injected into a magnetic circuit which has been constituted so that the adjacent poles are different poles and the opposed poles are the same poles, in accordance with magnetic poles of the magnets 13a, 13b with regard to the tips of the parts 14a-14d. The fluid 18 becomes a shape by which it has been shut up in the magnetic circuit, and also, the magnetic density becomes smaller toward the center part surrounded by the parts 14a-14d, therefore, the vicinity of the incident and emitting ends of the fibers 7, 2 is pushed aside to the part in which the magnetic density is small, and becomes a shape which is held coaxially by the fluid 18.
