A light-source optical system for a spectrometer for multi element analysis contains a plurality of monochromatic or line-emitting light sources and optical means with the aid of which it is possible to deflect light bundles from these light sources into a common beam path. Examples are described in which these optical means are formed by rotating mirror arrangements. In another example, the "optical means" are a diffraction grating. In this case, the various light sources are arranged such that the wavelength of the light emitted by each light source is directed by the diffraction grating into the common beam path.
