PURPOSE:To surely detect occurrence of insufficient folding, by providing a plurality of sensors for detecting the edge position of one side end of a signature and a sensor for measuring the length of the signature from the leading end to the trailing end thereof in the stream direction thereof. CONSTITUTION:During a signature is conveyed from a position P1 to a position P2 by a conveying belt 5, line sensors 60, 70 measures the edge position of one side end of the signature at the position P1. Further, during the signature P passes under a beam sensor 50, the length (h) of the signature in the stream direction is detected by counting the number of pulses from a rotary encoder. Thus, the detection of the stream direction length, and the detection of the edge position due to the presence of the signature, which are simple, allow occurrence of insufficient folding to be rapidly and precisely detected. |
