It is known to separate off pollutants, especially pollutants such as HCl, HF, SO2, NOx and also hydrocarbon compounds and other carcinogenic pollutants attacking the bronchial tubes by chemisorption filter compositions. These chemisorption compositions are frequently used in motor vehicle filters and in room filters. Various humid conditions frequently lead to the filter compositions gumming up, in particular when these are salt-containing absorption compositions. In order to avoid this disadvantage, it is proposed according to the invention that the chemisorption compositions are shielded against agglutination by encapsulation. The composition for encapsulating the individual chemisorption particles preferably comprises fatty alcohols and/or higher alcohols. The encapsulating substances can also comprise glycerol and/or ethylene glycol.
