PURPOSE:To improve a sound insulation effect to the maximum extent by comparing an ignition timing of a diesel engine between one directly detected by an ignition timing sensor and a predetermined ignition timing whereby controlling the opening of a suction throttle valve based on a deviation found. CONSTITUTION:An ignition timing sensor 7 is mounted on a cylinder head such that its light receiving section is exposed to a vortex flow chamber. and is connected with a control circuit 9 together with an idle switch 13. The control circuit 9, when the idle switch 13 is judged to be on, finds out an actual ignition timing based on a signal from the ignition timing sensor 7 for operating a deviation from a predetermined ignition timing. Then the opening of a suction throttle valve 3 is controlled to make the deviation smaller by way of an actuator 1.
