In order to increase the options (complexity) and performance (speed) of prediffused or non-prediffused integrated circuits, the present invention proposes a novel architecture in which macrocells (30, 32, 34) with compact topography are embedded in a prediffused net (42, 44) of the "sea of gates" type, filling the whole of the space available between the macrocells.
