NOVEL ORGANIC COMPOUNDS AND THEIR USE AS INTERMEDIATES IN THE PRODUCTION OF PHARMACEUTICALS

There are disclosed compounds of the formula in which R<1> is an alkenyl or alkynyl group optionally substituted with an optionally substituted phenyl group and containing from 5 to 30 carbon atoms, and R<3>, R<4> and R<5> are each selected from hydrogen, carboxyl, C2-5 alkoxycarbonyl, C1-4 alkyl, C1-4 alkoxy, hydroxyl, optionally protected tetrazolyl, halo, trifluoromethyl, nitrile, nitro and -CONR2<1><0> where each R<1><0> is hydrogen or C1-4 alkyl. The compounds are intermediates useful for preparing pharmaceutical compounds of the formula in which R<1>, R<3>, R<4> and R<5> have the values given above and R<2> is optionally substituted phenyl or optionally substituted C1-10 alkyl.
