A switch stalk comprises a stalk body (1) in the form of a hollow tube having a free end section (3) of enlarged diameter housing a connector spigot (12) of a knob (10) a main body portion (11) of which is rotatable about an axis extending longitudinally of the end section (3). The connector spigot (12) has a socket (23) receiving a connector pin (22) at one end of a flexible sheathed cable (20) the other end of which has a similar pin (25) housed in a socket (26) of a switch-actuating pin (27). The inclined end section (3) of the switch stalk allows the knob (10) to be operated easily by the driver's fingers without removing his hand from the steering wheel.
