<p>Improved valve mechanism for an apparatus for conveying particulate solid material. The conveyor apparatus includes a casing which has a core through it with an inlet for the material to be conveyed and an outlet. An endless screw impeller is mounted in a rotary manner in the casing by means of front and rear bearings, the rear bearing being located close to the inlet. The material is discharged from the casing via an outlet which is coaxial with a discharge chamber. Pressurized gaseous fluid is supplied to the discharge chamber in order to entrain and convey the particulate material through a pneumatic conveyor pipe which is connected for flow to the outlet from the discharge chamber. A description is given of an improved valve mechanism which closes the outlet of the casing. The valve is pushed into the closed position by a weight and is opened by the material which is made to advance by the endless screw impeller.</p> |
