PURPOSE:To reduce the production cost of a packing material and to make the production easy by adsorbing and depositing an optically active fat soluble crown compd. to the surface hydrophobic packing material thereby forming the packing material for separating an optical isomer. CONSTITUTION:The surface of the packing material such as silica, alumina, magnesia or silica is modified by using a hydrophobic compd. having a lower alkyl group, aryl group, etc., and adopting a physical adsorption method, chemical bonding method, etc., to obtain the surface hydrophobic packing material. Such surface hydrophobic packing material is packed into a column. A soln. prepd. by dissolving the optically active fat soluble crown compd. into a solvent mixture composed of an org. solvent having a specified compsn. and water is circulated into such column by using a pump so that the crown compd. is deposited on the packing material. The amt. of the crown compd. to be deposited on the packing material is adequately specified to >=10<-5> per cc the packing material in order to provide a good separating effect. |
