PURPOSE:To complete a protective circuit operation, by a method wherein a switching element is turned on by output of a peak current detecting circuit, and output of an error amplifier is forcedly introduced into a definite level. CONSTITUTION:A switching circuit 3 is driven by pulse from a pulse generator 4, and secondary output of a step-up transformer 2 is rectified by a diode 1. When output of a peak current detecting circuit 6 is applied to the base of a transistor 11, transistors 11, 13 are turned on, and output of an error amplifier 8 is decreased, whereby output of the step-up transformer 2 is decreased. This state is kept until the discharge current of a capacitor 10 flowing through a resistor 12 is decreased of the transistor 11 is released.
