PURPOSE:To obtain the distribution of uniform magnetic flux, by providing the side surface section of the core of the cross section of 'U' type, with a penetrating slot or a recessed section. CONSTITUTION:A levitation magnet 1 is composed of the slender core 2 of the cross section of 'U' type along a track, and a winding 3 wound up on the core 2. A magnet group fitted on a truck 6 faces rails 9 fixed on a crosstie 8, and by the attracting force of the magnet 1, a running unit A is levitated. The side surface section of the core 2 is provided with the penetrating slot 12 of circle, ellipse, triangle, rectangle, or the like met at the right angle to the core surface so that the passage of the line of magnetic force flowing in the 'U' direction may be interrupted, otherwise, with the recessed section 12a of a groove with the bottom, or the like if strength is needed is particular, and the distribution of the line of magnetic force generating a levitating force with the combination of the penetrating slot 12 or the recessed section 12a is set to be forcibly even with high uniformity.
