PURPOSE:To improve the uniformity of display density by adding a multiplying means for an AC signal frequency to a liquid crystal display device equipped with a matrix type liquid crystal display element and a liquid crystal driving LSI which oscillates internally to generate an AC signal for the inversion the polarity of an impressed voltage for the driving of the display element. CONSTITUTION:The LSI (I) 4 for a scanning electrode which operates in master mode generates the AC signal of low frequency as initially designed and this signal is inputted to an AC signal frequency multiplying circuit 6 and multiplied to, for example, 200Hz which is about 6 times. An LSI (II) for a scanning electrode in slave mode and an LSI 3 for display electrode operate while inverting the polarity of the impressed voltage at the output frequency of the AC signal frequency multiplying circuit 6, e.g. 200Hz. Consequently, the frequency of the AC signal is increased to raise the upper limit of a display frequency band and narrow down the display frequency band, thereby reducing an irregularity in display.
