PURPOSE:To obtain an easy-to-handle, low-priced and handy image reader by rotating a roller together with the movement of an image reading medium and inputting image information of one line in synchronization with an input of one strobe line. CONSTITUTION:The rollers 2a and 2b are rotatably arranged with their side peripheries protruding from a case 1, and when the image reading medium 10 is faced to move, they rotate. Four strobe lines A-D are sequentially printed on a strobe film 3. It moves together with the rotation of the rollers 2a and 2b, which is caused by the movement of the image reading medium 10. The strobe film 3 permits a control part 9 to correctly read image information of one line from a line image sensor 5 in synchronization with the one strobe line. Since the strobe film 3 is bridged between the upper end parts with small diameters in the rollers 2a and 2b, it is not contained in the case 1. Therefore it can be protected from being damaged from the outside.
