PURPOSE:To prevent a ruled line image from breaking, by providing a write designating means which designates a write position next to the present write position. CONSTITUTION:In a documentation device, a write position designating means having a ruled line detecting means, and a write position changing means, is provided. The ruled line detecting means detects whether a ruled line character is present or not at a character position in the next column of the write position. The write changing means, when the presence of the ruled line character is detected by the ruled line detecting means, advances the column position of the character position by one, and returns the column position of the character position one by one in order, until arriving at the ruled line character regulated in advance in a new line, or exceeding a line head, and afterwards, the column position is advanced by one, and the position is set as the write position for the next input character. In this way, an input without breaking the ruled line image can be attained.
