PURPOSE:To correctly input a HIRAGANA [cursive KANA Japanese syllabary) character] string objected to be re-converted from a document, by providing a re-conversion indicating means which indicates the re-conversion of the HIRAGANA string starting from an optional character position in the document, to a KANJI (Chinese character) in a character unit. CONSTITUTION:In a documentation device, a re-conversion indicating means, and a cursor position designating means are provided. The re-conversion indicating means indicates the re-conversion of the HIRAGANA sting starting from the optional character position in the document to the KANJI in one character unit. In connection with this, in the cursor position designating means, when the ruled line character is present at the position in the next column of the present cursor position, the next cursor position is advanced not to the position of the ruled line character, but to the position in the next column of the ruled line at the column position smaller than the ruled line character, or a line head. In this way, it is possible to designate the HIRAGANA string requested to re-convert correctly in one character unit.
