Method for the assay of immunoglobulin A protease.

Immunoglobulin A protease (IgAP) is elaborated by certain species of Neisseria Haemophilus and Streptococcus bacteria especially Neisseria gonorrhea and Neisseria meningitidis. The antibody to IgAP is a reagent for use in immunoassay of IgAP. Innumoassays including radioimmunoassay and enzyme-linked immunoassay with monoclonal antibodies to IgAP are disclosed. A kit for early detection of gonorrhea is given. The reagent and kit may also be used in the detection of meningitis.
