Tooth cleaning instrument

There is described an instrument for cleaning the interdental gaps and the tooth surfaces facing them. It is made of a rigid material on a flexible or low-elasticity shaft and has a plurality of profiled sections corresponding to the interdental gaps and a handle. By bending of the shaft it can even reach those zones of the lateral tooth region that are more difficult to access. The end of the working part is formed by a level surface at right angles to the longitudinal axis; grooves or channels may be provided next to this at intervals and at right angles to the longitudinal axis. This device is suitable for knocking and scraping off deposits and concrements. A coating of an oligodynamic metal, e.g. silver or copper, allows germicidal metal streaks to be applied onto the surfaces of the teeth and allows the instrument to be kept hygienically clean. <IMAGE>
