PURPOSE:To obtain the ink jet head of a high recording density, by a method wherein the ink jet opening of a slit form having heat generating body array on its interior surface is provided and the distance and gap of the heat generating body array from the ink jet opening are made not more than the pitch of the heat generating body array. CONSTITUTION:The heat generating body array 106 for the purpose of generating a steam vapor bubble is arranged on a substrate 100. If a voltage pulse is applied to the array 106, a vapor bubble 116 is generated and pressure wave is transmitted in an isotropic manner. By narrowing the gap (h) between a slit plate 101 and a protection layer 120 and the distance h' between a slit nozzle part 110 and the array 106 to equal to or not more than the pitch of the array 106, the fluid resistance in the slit nozzle part 110 direction B is lessened and an ink drop 114 can be formed to be flown. Thereby, the joint of each heating element 106 with the nozzle opening is not required and a large size line head can be realized. Then, the structure of the head is simplified and heating element 106 can be integrated in a high density. |
