PURPOSE:To make it possible to accurately identify an actual on-hand amount at the side of a host machine, by providing a memory means storing commodity on-hand amount data in a balance for selling the commodity and transmitting said commodity on-hand amount data to the host machine by the demand from the host machine. CONSTITUTION:When a balance 1 is set to a on-hand amount data input mode, present time data is inputted and a commodity reduced in an on-hand amount is placed on the receiving tray of the balance 1 to perform weighing. These transaction data are registered in the memory of the balance 1. At the side of a host machine 2, the sampling of data demand is performed to each balance 1 at certain definite time intervals through an in-line cable 3 and the transaction data stored in each memory are transmitted to the host machine 2 to collect data. By this method, the commodity reduced in an on-hand amount can be instantaneously confirmed by the person in charge of a commodity control section in an office and proper commodity control can be performed.
