THERMAL TRANSFER RECORDING MEDIUM

PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal transfer recording medium with which high-speed printing can be performed and high-density high-resolution printing can be achieved even on a paper poor in smoothness, by incorporating carbon black particles having a particle diameter in a specified range into a coloring material layer. CONSTITUTION:Carbon black particles having a particle diameter of 10-20mmum are incorporated into a coloring material layer, in a thermal transfer recording medium comprising at least the coloring material layer on a base. It is preferable that the thermal transfer recording medium comprises a releasable layer and the coloring material layer, the releasable layer comprises a heat-fusible substance as a main constituent, and the coloring material layer comprises a thermoplastic polymer as a main constituent. The heat-fusible substance in the releasable layer is preferably used in an amount of not less than 10pts.wt. per 100pts.wt. of the total amount of solid components in the layer. A coloring material is preferably used in an amount of not more than 20pts.wt. per 100pts.wt. of the total amount of the solid components in the releasable layer. The coloring material layer preferably comprises 5-40pts.wt. of a coloring agent and 5-95pts.wt. of the thermoplastic substance per 100pts.wt. of the total amount of solid components in the layer.
